Yorke, William Gay (Anglo-American, 1817-ca.1888) - Oilpaintings on canvas
Lived and worked in Liverpool and (after 1871) in New York.
Ship Portraits, mainly of sailing vessels and also Yachting Scenes
Works starting at US $ 3,000 (USA) or BP 2,000 (Great Britain). Prices depend on subject, size, date, quality and condition. Please send us an e-mail to receive an exact offer for your work by this artist (free of charge for persons considering to sell their painting).
His style is quite similar to that of his better known son William Howard Y., but some of his earlier works are not as sophisticated and more naive than the ones by William Howard while other works are really excellent (see image below). His Yachting paintings are of special interest. Information about the artist and his oeuvre can also be found in our books "Ship Portrait Artists".
