Wheldon, James (British, 1832-1895) - Oilpaintings on canvas
Place:
Lived and worked in Hull, Great Britain.
Motifs:
Ship Portraits, predominately local sailing vessels, steamers and whaling ships.

His style is rather lively and often other shipping appears in the background, usually the ship is depicted in one position under full speed. *Essex* 1878 – Portrait of the English Freight Steamer with auxiliary Sails set at sea with other shipping in the distance – 66 x 122 cm – signed and dated
