Edvard Skari painting

Edvard Skari - Shipping in the Oresund, Kronborg Castle beyond, ca. late 1870s or early 1880s, a full-rigged Ship is passing the Oresund and taking a pilot, many other sailing vessels in the background - signed lower right - Oil on canvas 60 x 95 cm (24 by 37 1/2 inch) without the frame - good condition (not relined, a few areas of repairs and inpaint, mainly in the sky) - Property of a European Collection

Note: The artist painted some versions with this motif. Another, larger example (80 by 126 cm and dated 1878) is in the Collection of the Norges Rederiforbund (described and illustrated under Nr. 22 in "Norsk Maritim Malerkunst" and in the Art Maritim Catalogue 2000) and the Norsk Sjofartsmuseum has as well a similar painting by Skari in their "Gram-Salen" on permanent exhibition.
