Note: This is an early and well executed painting by the artist. A sketch and another oil on canvas portrait of this steamer by Jacobsen is in the Mariners Museum (VA) - please refer to Sniffen. The "Henry Eyde" was built in 1879 at Doxford in Sunderland for the Belgian company Steinman & Ludwig" and sailed regularly from Antwerp to New York. Photo Copyright is with Mr. Herwig Simons.
