This Pattern came up in France during the 18th Century and in the 19th Century it became the most popular Flatware Design in the Old World. Today this Design represents the typical Classic and Elegant Flatware in Continental Europe (eg. France, Switzerland and Germany). This is a one-family-owned Set which has been carefully preserved and is complete. All parts of this Design Silverware were hand-made in Switzerland and Germany with a strict quality control and high manufacturing standards. It was executed in heavy weight and double-struck (design is on front and back).

Without being overloaded with decoration this flatware shows the typical style of the early Art Deco period. This is a straight and one-owner Set which has been carefully preserved. All parts of this Design Silverware were hand-made in Germany with a strict quality control and high manufacturing standards. While elsewhere in the first third of the 20th Century machine-made Silverware after older designs were flooding the markets this European Silversmith continued to produce fine, handmade Silverware with special Designs of the period.

Quick Facts: Silver Purity: 830/1000 (Strainer) and 835/1000 (Holder) - Purpose: a richly decorated solid Silver Tea Strainer complete with Holder - Dimensions & Execution: the item is ca. 4 cm or 1 1/2 in high and 10,5 cm or 4 1/4 in at its widest and the weight is 59 gr. (or nearly 2 Ounces), the Silver has been hand-chased and shows a decoration with leaves, flowers and three persons sitting on a table - Maker & Age: this item has been made around 1890, likely in the Netherlands or Belgium - Condition: the silver shows some dark age points, especially at the holder, otherwise good - Assay Marks: 830S and 835 (for solid Silver) and a Maker`s Mark which looks like "CB" for us - Private Collection, The Netherlands

Silver Purity: Germany, solid Silver 800/1000 - Purpose: a round and pierced Design Bowl for Cookies or Fruits or Decoration with four feets

Dimensions & Execution:
the diameter is 17,5 cm (nearly 7 inch) at the top and it is ca. 7,5 cm (nearly 3 in) high - made of solid silver with a weight of 170 grams, executed in a Late Art Nouveau Design - Maker & Age: designed and made in Heilbronn by Premium Maker Bruckmann (founded 1805), model No. 12742 - the item was executed around 1925 - Condition: shows at bottom inside two bumps and usual signs from use, otherwise ok - bottom outside (upside down) is an inscription with the dates 1920-1925 and Provenance sign (Mittelweg, Hamburg) - Assay Marks: Half Moon, Crown & 800 Silver Guarantee + Maker`s Sign - Private Collection Austria

Peter Bruckmann was founding member of the German Werkbund, which was connected with the Arts & Crafts movement and later came out in the Bauhaus.

Silver Purity: Germany, 835/1000 - Purpose: an Oval Bowl for Cookies or Serving

Dimensions & Execution:
the length is 25 cm, it is 16,8 cm wide and 3 cm high - made of solid silver with a weight of 238 gr., executed in a Modern Plain Avantgarde Design - Maker & Age: Peter Bruckmann, famous German Silversmith and Designer (Chairman of "Werkbund" etc.) - the item is most likely from the 1920s - Condition: shows signs of use and light bumps, otherwise ok - Assay Marks: Half Moon & Crown and 835 (for German 835 Silver) + Maker`s Sign (Eagle) - Remarks: Bruckmann was in the beginning of the 20th Century the largest Silverware Manufacturer worldwide (also many exports)

Silver Purity: solid Silver 813/1000 (13 Lot) - Purpose: an antique Set of six large and heavy Table Spoons in the Violine Pattern (a very old version of the Fiddle Design) - Dimensions & Execution: the spoons are 23 cm long, made of solid 813 Silver with a weight of 380 gr. - Maker & Age: made in Southern Germany by Silversmith Küffner in the period 1780-1840 - Condition: a few scratches and signs of use, otherwise ok, unreadable monogram in artistic manner - Assay Marks: 13 (for 813 Silver) and Maker`s Sign - Private Collection, Australia

These hand-made items from the Louis XVI, Empire or Biedermeier period could - due to their impressive Size - also used as Serving Spoons. As an extravagant additional item they can also be combined with Flatware from the usual Fiddle Designs.

Quick Facts: Silver Purity: solid Silver 830/1000 (Standard in Germany) - Purpose: a Cake Flatware Set of 17 pieces for 8 Persons including Cake Server - Dimensions: see list below - Execution: made in solid 830 Silver, the Design is called "Strand" (Beach) with a well worked out Shell at the top of the handle - Maker & Age: made in Denmark by the Silversmith (Brothers) W. & S. Sorensen of Horsens in the mid 20th Century - Condition: Signs of use, such as light scratches. Engraved letters on the back of handles (not visible when the Set is used the normal way as shown on the photo). This item has been completely hand-chased by well known Silversmith Sorensen from Horsens, Denmark - two Brothers who later founded the Horsens Solvvarefabrik. The Danish Pattern "Strand" was especially polular among Seafarers, Sailors, Inhabitants of the Coastal Areas and other people who had a Maritime connection. This Silversmith followed the old Tradition of hand-made Silverware in Denmark and is known for good quality.

Silver Purity: 830/1000 (830 Silver) - Purpose: Collection of five Norwegian decorated Serving Flatware items for Cake, Pies, Jam etc. - Dimensions & Execution: the cake server on Top of photo is 23 cm (9 inch) long and 6,5 cm at its widest point, all are made of solid Silver with a weight of 252 grams (8.10 ounces) - Maker & Age: made in Norway by Magnus Aase (Bergen, operated 1876-1953) and other Norwegian Silversmiths - Condition: light signs of use (eg. fine scratches), otherwise very good condition - Assay Marks: Maker`s sign of Magnus Aase (and others), 830S (for solid Silver 830 Standard) and the letters NM (Norsk Monster = Protection Mark for Norwegian Design) - Private Collection, Germany

consisting of 2 Dinner Forks by Puiforcat and 2 Dinner Spoons plus two Dessertor or Coffee Spoons by Granvigne, all in the same pattern, Table Spoons/Forks are 21,5 cm (8.5 in) long, knifes are added for free - made of solid silver with a weight of 364 gr. (11.7 Oz), executed in a Classic Round Fiddle Design - Maker & Age: by Master Silversmiths Jean Granvigne and Emile Puiforcat, Paris ca. 1890-1900 - Condition: signs of use, dessert spoons with light dents, otherwise ok - Assay Marks: Minerva 1. Grade, and EP / JG signs of the Silversmiths - Remarks: Emile Puiforcat was (together with Odiot) the leading Silversmith of Paris.
