Silver Purity: 900 (Coin Silver)
or 925 (Sterling) - Purpose: an antique Presentation Tray
with a sculptured Animal and Flower Decoration - Dimensions &
Execution: it is 20,7 cm (more than 8 in) long and 7 cm (2 3/4
in) large and stands on four ball feets 2 cm (0.8 in) high, made
of solid Silver with a weight of 120 grams (3.86 ounces) - Maker
& Age: made in Hong Kong by Wing Chung (also written Wing
Chun), a well known silversmith of the period 1850-1900. Condition:
signs of age and use, otherwise ok - Assay Marks: Maker`s
sign WC and chinese character for high grade silver plus the no.
90 - refer to Wing-Chung-Tray

| This is a hand-made China Trade (Chinese
Export) Silverware item which shows a remarkable quality. In the second
half of the 19th Century some self-assured and larger Silversmith
Workshops in Hong Kong, Shanghai and Canton started to introduce own
Designs where the form and function followed Western items but where
own decoration with Chinese motifs was added. This Beaker was previously
owned by an European Insurance Broker who was located in Southern
China. |
