"S.M.Y. Hohenzollern" - the Imperial Steam Yacht of Kaiser Wilhelm II at sea, ca. 1895 - oil painting on an original large Shell from the German South Seas Colonies, with a lighthouse on the left side. The Royal Steam Yacht is shown under full speed. The painting and shell are in good condition with a few expected scuffs and light age signs and shows the original patina. Dimensions of the front side of the shell are 28,5 x 21 cm (11 x 8 1/2 in) and it is 23 cm (9 inch) deep - price (incl s&h): EUR 580 (currently ca. Pounds 430) (convert to Pounds or other currency)

Note: These Shells from the South Sea with paintings of ships were a speciality done in Germany during the end of the 19th Century until the early 1900s. This is a quite large example and showing an attractive motif - the Yacht of the Kaiser. About the history of the "Hohenzollern" you will find a lot of information on the Internet. This is an attractive and unusual addition to any International Collection of Marine Art and Maritime Antiques.
