rare European Half Hull Sailing Ship Model, first quarter 20th Century - the display model has been constructed from 9 layers of different wood, eg. Mahogony, Oak, Pitchpine etc. in a so called Sandwich or "Bread and Butter" construction (light wood is followed by dark wood) with an additional solid pieces for the rudder and bowsprit. The model is in good condition with a few expected scuffs and age signs and in original (cleaned and polished) surface with patina. This display model is mounted on the original solid Mahogony backboard - dimensions of the model are 57 x 7 x 4,5 cm (22 1/2 x 3 in) and with the backboard 65 x 18 cm (25 1/2 x 7 inch) - Price (incl s&h): EUR 950 (currently US$ 1,320 - convert to Pounds or US$)

Note: It is rare to find an original half hull model of such a large sailing ship in this medium size and easy to hang dimension.

Provenance: a Private Collection in Lower Saxony, Germany - Note: this is a model of a typical large Windjammer Sailing Ship from the first quarter of the 20th Century, most likely before the beginning of the Great War, a vessel that was approx. 270 feet long (80 Meter) or more long. This period and quality model was built with much care, using different woods.
