The tile picture is framed in a light oak frame, which can be colored / painted easily (Do-it-yourself) in many colors - according to your preference of taste, other colors in the room interior or according to the light green of the tiles. The manufacturer (Grohner Wandplattenfabrik) was a leading producer of upscale Art Nouveau tiles in Germany (see also literature) - the company was founded in 1906 and we believe that this tile picture is from around 1910. It is guaranteed to be of the Art Nouveau period and that all tiles are from the same manor house interior and tile picture - as it was once designed.

Ausführliche Beschreibung in deutscher Sprache (in German): Antikes Jugendstil Fliesenbild bestehend aus 16 Fliesen (4 Begrenzung-Fliesen oben, 12 Bildfliesen darunter, davon 4 untere Begrenzung). Gesamtmaße des Bildes sind 44 x 62 cm, mit dem Eichenrahmen 51 x 69 cm. Die Fliesen sind fest auf einer Holzplatte montiert und das Bild ist aufhängfertig, Gesamtgewicht um die 9 Kilo. Der Hersteller ist die Grohner Wandplattenfabrik AG in Grohn bei Bremen (gegründet 1906, Gesellschafterin war die Norddeutsche Steingutfabrik Bremen-Grohn), das Produktionsdatum dürfte um 1910 sein. Der Hersteller was bekannt für hochwertige Jugendstilfliesen (siehe Literatur, z.B. "Wo Mauerblumen blühen" oder www.jugendstilfliesen.de). Das Bild wurde von einer Lithographie übertragen und glasiert. Das Tableau stammt aus einem norddeutschen Patrizierhaus, es ist handelt sich um eine komplette Sequenz aus einem Endlosdekor. Zustand: ein kleiner Chip an der oberen zweiten Bildfliese (unten am Rand), Alterscraquelee (teilweise, nicht ausgepägt oder störend), sonst ok, der Eichenrahmen ist unbehandelt und kann entsprechend der Einrichtung auch farbig gefaßt werden - sehr selten, ich habe auf Auktionen (auch in der Vergangenheit) bzw. im Handel kein vergleichbares Stück im Angebot gesehen.

The design of the lower tiles was influenced by Henry van de Velde, who designed Art Nouveau Tiles from 1902-1905 in Mettlach. The manufacturer of this title picture (Grohner Wandplatten Fabrik) was well known for his high quality execution and his sophisticated designs.
