Ship Portrait of the American Bark "Fanny?" off Le Havre (France), 1865 - the vessel is shown as entering the port of Le Havre at fair weather, a steamer beyond - Watercolor on paper, 16 x 23 cm (6 1/4 by 9 inch) with frame 28 x 33 cm (11 x 13 inch) - signed and dated "Eug. Grandin, Havre 1865" - in the original mounting (gilted wood) and frame - picture is in good condition - Private Collection

Note: A very detailled executed French ship portrait of this American barque. There is evidence that there were two Eugene Grandin doing such ship portraits of a similar style in Le Havre: An earlier one (father?) in the late 1850s until the 1870s and a later one (son?) in the 1880, 1890s and until ca. 1909. Both signed Eugene Grandin, but style and signature is a little different. This is a work by the older Grandin or an early work by the artist (if it was one).
