Lived and worked in Bergen (Norway) and after 1855 in Dusseldorf, Germany

Fjord Scenes, Landscapes, Coastal Scenes, Country Life and Genre in Norway, Scenes with Animals (Cattle)

Notes:
Askevold studied in Bergen at H.L. Reusch and moved 1855 to Dusseldorf, Germany where he was a student of Hans Gude at the Academy. Nearly all his works show motifs from Norway, he depicted the Nature and the Country Life in the Fjords during summer. Although staying in Dusseldorf Askevold visited his native country regularly at summer time to find inspiration for new pictures.
