Offered is an antique Newel Cap from an early European Ozean Liner (Steamship with Sails) showing a Mythological Marine Creature. This wooden sculpture is from the last quarter of the 19th Century and has a length of ca. 40 cm (15.75 in), is max. 16 cm (6.3 in) wide and has a height of 24 cm (9.5 in). It weights about 2 Kilos (4 Pounds) and has a recent Screw applied at bottom to mount it on a stand or other place. Condition shows good patina and many signs of age and damage. The beak has a missing edge (lost long time ago) and there are overall scratches, smaller missing parts of wood and several holes from an earlier woodworm visit many years ago.
