Image of Johnson Painting

Ship Portrait of the *Providentia* fört af Kapitain Axel Pedersen af Svendborg ca. 1835, – The Danish Topsail Schooner under sail in two positions at sea – Watercolor – 31 x 41 cm – not signed, but well attributed to Johnson – Private Collection Hamburg

Note: Johnson often executed commissions by the Captains of smaller vessels, which were in wide use in Scandinavia during the period. We know by him several portraits of one masted Northern (Cargo) Yachts and this Topsail Schooner represents therefore already the typical "medium size" sailing craft used in the area and period.
